Basic principles of CAE

Injection molding is one of the most important polymer-processing operations in the plastics industry. In plastic injection molding process, melting polymer fills the mold cavity and then it is solidified while cooling in the cavity. The quality of the product depends on the correlation of the processing conditions, mold shapes and characteristics of the polymer . Even though injection molding has been widely used for more than 50 years, it is very difficult to predict the product quality till now due to a variety of processing variables which are complexly linked to design parameters, materials and processing conditions. Therefore, the injection molding software is introduced to optimize the processing variables before the mold is actually tooled. Using computer simulation various combinations of design parameters, materials and processing conditions can be tested quickly and inexpensively. This process can eliminate design errors and inappropriate processing conditions and provide information on how processing variables affect the quality, expense and performance of the product. VMTECH has two products, CAPA and MAPS-3D. CAPA uses shell mesh to analysis but MAPS-3D uses solid mesh. Flow, Cool and Pack modules of MAPS-3D are already developed and Warp module is now under developing till September 2004.
